John F. Mortenson paints in oils, watercolors and chalk pastels in a post-impressionist style. His work encompasses a variety of local motifs as well as work produced during his travels throughout North America and Europe.
Expressionist oil painting produced on location is Brian Scott's main passion. His emphasis on design and composition with a full spectrum of colour have become the trademark of his paintings
"I can't conceive of anything being more varied and rich and handsome than the planet Earth. And its crowning beauty is the natural world. I want to soak it up, to understand it as well as I can, and to absorb it... and then I'd like to put it together and express it in my painting. This is the way I want to dedicate my life."
Robert Bateman is internationally renowned and recogized both for his paintings, but also for his dedication to preserving the planet.
Peter Shostak was born and raised on a farm in northeastern Alberta. His early interest in art inspired him to major in art at the University of Alberta. When Vancouver Artist Rae Maté heard The Lord’s Prayer recited in first grade, she believed that the phrase, “Our Father who “art” in Heaven” referred to the Creator indulging His passion for drawing and painting. Since graduating from art school, Rae has exhibited widely, taught art to preschoolers and illustrated the children’s picture book, CROCODILES SAY... She and her husband Gabor have three children and live in Vancouver. In the summer time Rae makes art in heaven on Hornby Island, B.C.

Elaine was raised in a family of Hornby island pioneers who are devoutly Catholic, and her work emerges out of this colourful family history of early settlers, farmers, church and boat builders. Art allows Elaine to explore her connection to place and the Culture of Catholicism that surrounds her. Her desire to engage in a struggle for discovery, beyond the strictures of religion and family, has led Elaine to create satirical pieces full of wonder and whimsy. Her art is a reflection of nature's presence around her and Elaine's pieces wonderfully express her own particular humour and joie de vivre.

Living in several provinces has given Elspeth an outstanding opportunity to experience the wide range of topography and beauty that Canada has to offer. Canadian wilderness, especially BC's rugged coast and islands, has added a powerful dimension to her work. Using high quality acrylics, Elspeth focuses on colour to convey on canvas this sense of wonderment and joy. She is an avid "en plein air" painter. Elspeth has her studio on her floating home on the Fraser River in Canoe Pass, Ladner and on Hornby Island.

“My studio is a place of quiet contemplation, experimentation and artistic growth, as I am surrounded by nature, bluffs, trees, gardens and flowers. I am constantly inspired by the natural rhythms found in nature and my love of texture, colour and light. Initially I sought to record nature in detail, however, after becoming more aware of the Impressionists’ approach, I became excited by the possibilities of surface and effect, and leaving room for the viewer to interpret and participate.”
